Chevening 2027/28 Applications Close This Month

Chevening Scholarship applications for the 2027/28 cycle close this month, October 2026, with the exact deadline set on each country’s page at 11:00 UTC, according to the official Chevening timeline. The UK government scheme funds a one-year master’s degree in the UK, and later dates in the process are already fixed.

Key dates

Check your country’s deadline now

The timeline says applications opened in August 2026 and close in October 2026, and tells applicants to refer to their country page for the deadline, which falls at 11:00 UTC. We cannot confirm every country’s date, and some may already have passed, so check before you plan. If yours has passed, the next cycle is the one to prepare for.

The rest of the timeline

Per Chevening, reading committees assess applications from mid-October 2026 to January 2027, interview shortlists follow in mid-February 2027, and interviews run from March to April 2027. Documents including photo ID, your undergraduate certificate and reference letters must be uploaded at least seven working days before interview. Results arrive from mid-June 2027, successful candidates must submit at least one unconditional UK university offer by 8 July 2027 at 17:00 BST, and studies begin in September or October 2027.

Three scholarship types

Chevening lists Standard, SIDS and ASEAN scholarships, each with its own participating-countries page. The scheme is described as fully funded, but the page does not itemise what that covers, so read the eligibility pages. Chevening also notes that Fellowship timelines differ.

Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships 2027: 20 October Deadline

Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships 2027 close at 16:00 BST on Tuesday 20 October 2026, and the Lester B. Pearson scholarship for the University of Toronto has its own October dates. The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission says applications for 2027/28 go through its CSC Central system, according to the CSC website.

Deadline guide

Commonwealth Master’s: who can apply

Applicants must be citizens or refugees of an eligible Commonwealth country and permanently resident there, hold at least an upper second-class (2:1) degree, be unable to afford UK study without the award, and be available to start in September 2027. The CSC lists more than 40 eligible countries, including Bangladesh, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Ghana and Kenya.

What it covers

The CSC says it covers approved tuition fees, a living allowance of £1,712 a month (£2,000 for London-area universities), return airfare, a study travel grant and a child allowance where applicable. You must also apply separately to a national nominating agency or approved NGO, and submit a passport copy, transcripts, two references and a development impact statement. Start the nomination step early, since it can have its own deadline.

Pearson at the University of Toronto

The University of Toronto says school nominations close on 9 October 2026, the admission application on 16 October and the scholarship application on 6 November. Eligible students are international students in their final year of secondary school in 2026/27 or who graduated after June 2026, starting in September 2027. Each high school may nominate one student. The award covers tuition, books, incidental fees and residence for four years, and about 37 Pearson Scholars are named each year.

How to plan

Consider a hypothetical Nigerian doctor with a 2:1 who wants a public-health master’s in the UK. She would confirm eligibility, contact her national nominating body this week, line up two referees and draft the impact statement before 20 October. A secondary-school student, by contrast, depends on the school nominating her by 9 October. Neither example is a real applicant.

Other routes are covered in our guides to the Chevening 2027-28 timeline, the DAAD deadline and Erasmus Mundus.

What happens next

Check the official pages again before submitting, since deadlines and requirements can change. Late applications are generally not considered.

Erasmus Mundus Scholarships 2027: Deadlines and How to Apply

Erasmus Mundus scholarships 2027 applications are opening across Europe, and most programmes close between October and January for courses starting the following academic year, according to the European Commission Erasmus+ site. Unlike many scholarships, there is no single portal: you apply directly to the programme you want.

Quick guide

How Erasmus Mundus applications work

The Commission says students apply directly to the institution running their chosen Erasmus Mundus Joint Master. A new batch of selected programmes is added to the list each year, so a programme you saw last year may or may not be running. The official course catalogue sits on the EACEA site, and each programme sets its own deadline, entry requirements and procedure.

What the scholarship covers

Selected programmes offer full scholarships covering participation costs plus support for travel, visa fees and a living allowance. The Commission describes the awards as merit-based and open to top-ranked applicants worldwide. Amounts vary, so read the programme page instead of relying on a blog post.

Who can apply

You need a bachelor’s degree or be in your final undergraduate year before the master’s begins. Equivalent qualifications recognised in your country can also count. Programmes run one to two academic years, and graduates receive either a single joint degree or separate degrees from the consortium institutions.

Picture a Vietnamese engineering student finishing a bachelor’s next summer. She would shortlist two or three programmes from the catalogue, note each deadline, and prepare one core set of documents she can adapt for each application. This is a hypothetical illustration, not a record of a real applicant.

A sensible plan for the next three months

Start by listing programmes in the catalogue that match your field. Check each programme’s own page for its deadline, since the Commission only gives a general October-to-January window. Then work backwards: language tests and transcripts take the longest, so request them first. Applying to several programmes is common, and the programme pages will say whether that is allowed.

Erasmus Mundus is one of several routes. Our recent guides cover the Chevening 2027-28 timeline, the DAAD scholarship deadline and Gates Cambridge rounds. Before applying anywhere, confirm visa rules for your destination country with its official immigration authority.

What happens next

Programmes will publish or refresh their calls through the autumn. Check each programme’s site regularly, because deadlines are set programme by programme and can differ by weeks.

Questions about Erasmus Mundus

Is there one central application portal?

No. The Commission says students apply directly to the programme they choose.

When are the deadlines?

Most programmes require submissions between October and January, per the Commission. Check each programme for its exact date.

What does the scholarship cover?

Participation costs plus support for travel, visa fees and living allowance, for selected programmes.

Who is eligible?

Holders of a bachelor’s degree, or students in their final undergraduate year, or those with an equivalent recognised qualification.

How long are the programmes?

One to two academic years, ending in a joint degree or separate degrees from consortium members.

Two Scholarship Deadlines, Days Apart: Chevening and DAAD in October

The DAAD scholarship deadline for most master’s and PhD awards starting in 2027 falls on 15 October 2026, according to the uni2study deadline calendar. Chevening, the UK government’s scholarship, closes sooner, at 11:00 UTC on 6 October. If you plan to apply for either, you have days, not weeks.

On this page

The DAAD scholarship deadline and how it works

The German Academic Exchange Service, known as DAAD, funds study and research in Germany. uni2study says most master’s and PhD scholarships for entry in 2027 close on 15 October 2026, and some programmes run later into October. That is a secondary source, so treat the date as a guide and check your own programme.

DAAD says on its site that you can find the various scholarship types and suitable offers in its scholarship database. Use that database to confirm the exact closing date and required documents for the award you want. See the DAAD scholarship pages.

Chevening closes first: 6 October

Chevening’s own timeline for the 2027/28 cycle is clear. Applications opened on 4 August 2026 and close on 6 October 2026 at 11:00 UTC. Late submissions are not accepted. Eligibility screening begins in October, and a reading committee reviews applications from October to January.

Shortlisted candidates are told in mid-February 2027, interviews run from March to April at British embassies, and results come in mid-June 2027. Scholars would start in the UK in September or October 2027. See the Chevening application timeline.

DAAD scholarship deadline - Heidelberg old town on the Neckar at dusk

A realistic plan for the next two weeks

Start with documents. Most scholarships ask for transcripts, references, a personal statement and proof of language skills. These take time to collect, and referees need notice.

To illustrate, picture a Vietnamese engineering graduate comparing a master’s in Germany with one in the UK. They would list each award’s deadline, check the language requirement, and begin with the earliest closing date. This is a hypothetical example, not a real applicant.

Do not leave submission to the last hour. Chevening says its deadline is fixed, and the same discipline applies to DAAD.

Other scholarship rounds to watch

Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters are different. uni2study notes that each consortium sets its own timeline, and deadlines run from November 2026 to February 2027. There is no single central date, so check each programme page.

Also see the Cambridge route in our guide to Gates Cambridge 2027 deadlines. If you are weighing countries and visa routes, our visa eligibility checker is a quick place to start.
